Karl Böhm
Deutsche Grammophon presents Karl Böhm's outstanding 1964 interpretation of Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, a legendary opera recording of the golden stereo age, in an audiophile remastering on 2 CDs and Blu-ray Audio.
Karl Böhm's 1964 recording of Die Zauberflöte is one of the timeless classics among opera recordings. One of the reasons for this is its prominent cast of singers, first and foremost the legendary tenor Fritz Wunderlich, whose parade roles included Tamino. Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau embodies the bird-man Papageno with bravura, and Franz Crass interprets the two Sarastro arias with a melodious, warm bass voice that is unparalleled even today.
The recordings are presented on 2 CDs as well as on a high-fidelity Pure Audio Blu-ray disc in audiophile 96kHz / 24-bit format. The mastering is based on the original analog tape recordings. In addition, the high-quality deluxe hardcover edition features a 36-page booklet with essays and the libretto in the original language, as well as a translation in English, French and German.
