No other name is associated with historical performance practice as much as Nikolaus Harnoncourt. When the conductor died in March 2016, the music world lost THE pioneer of this current, one of the most influential and charismatic artists of the 20th century. To mark the first anniversary of Harnoncourt's death and at the same time the five hundredth anniversary of the death of Renaissance composer Heinrich Isaac (1450-1517), Music at the court of Emperor Maximilian I (2017) is now an archive production reissue of the 1963 recording with Concertus Musicus Wien and the Vienna Boys' Choir. It features works by Isaac, the illustrious court composer of Emperor Maximilian I, as well as his contemporaries Josquin Desprez and Antoine Brumel, among others.
