Deutsche Grammophon releases live recordings of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition by Bruce Liu, the winner of one of the most prestigious competitions in the world of classical music. The jury awarded first prize to the 24-year-old Canadian pianist last night immediately after the final round at the National Philharmonic Hall in Warsaw. The live album kicks off a renewed collaboration between Deutsche Grammophon and the Chopin Institute, the competition's host and organizer. The goal is to promote the work of outstanding Chopin performers and bring it to the widest possible audience. "We are delighted about this renewed cooperation with the Chopin Institute, which allows us to showcase an exceptional talent in classical music," said Dr. Clemens Trautmann, President Deutsche Grammophon. "Every stage of this year's competition was an experience. The success of Bruce Liu, whom we warmly congratulate, is all the more remarkable. Chopin's music is born of deep emotion, which is another reason why it appeals particularly to young musicians. We are honored to make such a young voice heard in the world."
