Maurizio Pollini's recordings of the polonaises have achieved cult status. Pollini's playing is characterized by both outstanding mastery and subtle poetry. To improve the sound quality, the work has been mastered and cut from the original 4-track tapes to 45 rpm and reissued on 2 LPs.
