With his second album for Deutsche Grammophon, the blind Japanese star pianist Nobuyuki "Nobu" Tsujii devotes himself to the emotionally strongest soundscapes of Russian Romanticism. Together with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Domingo Hindoyan, he unleashes the full force of Rachmaninov's 3rd Piano Concerto, one of the most technically demanding works in the piano literature. Nobu complements the orchestral soundscapes with carefully selected transcriptions for solo piano: highlights from Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite and the breathtaking Flight of the Bumblebee literally shine when "Nobu" interprets them both sensitively and with technical perfection.
