Popis
75 minutes of remastered musical splendor In July 1955, the then 19-year-old Luciano Pavarotti traveled to Wales with his father and a choir from Modena to take part in the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod. There they won the male voice competition by a wide margin. This special moment inspired Pavarotti to become a professional singer. 40 years later, in 1995, he returned to give a special concert in the pavilion during the Eisteddfod week. This recording documents the previously unreleased, historic concert. To the crowd gathered at the Pavilion, Pavarotti said, "40 years, my God, it feels like it was yesterday. I have done so many things. When journalists ask me what day in my life was special, I say it was the day I won this competition because I was with all my friends." The collection presents a program full of arias from Cavalleria rusticana, Il trovatore and Macbeth as well as well-known Neapolitan songs. It also includes two tracks from 1955, which are considered to be Luciano Pavarotti's oldest recordings. A 100-page LP-sized book containing the history of the concert, interviews with those involved, valuable and rare historic photographs from the Llangollen archive, a newly commissioned biography of Pavarotti, a reproduction of the original concert program, a specially commissioned history of the Llangollen Eisteddfod and much more. The SACDs in this box are hybrid and feature a PCM audio layer that can also be played on standard CD players, as well as a DSD layer.
