With “Morgan Freeman’s Symphonic Blues Experience,” the Oscar-winning actor is dedicating himself to a project close to his heart: a musical tribute to the history and legacy of the Mississippi Delta blues. As producer, Freeman developed the concept for the album, which blends classic blues traditions with orchestral arrangements by Martin Gellner—who has collaborated with Hans Zimmer, among others—and the Chineke! Orchestra. Recorded in Memphis and at Abbey Road Studios in London, the album brings together renowned blues greats such as Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’, Shemekia Copeland, and Alvin Youngblood Hart. The result is a striking fusion of authentic blues and symphonic richness.
