Queen: Budapest (DVD)

"Queen Budapest" celebrates the 40th anniversary of the first stadium rock concert by a Western band behind the Iron Curtain, as well as Queen’s last filmed live performance. “Queen Budapest” marks a significant milestone in the band’s history. For this release, the film was meticulously restored using the original 35-mm film footage. The restoration was carried out by Sir Peter Jackson’s post-production company, Park Road Post Production, in New Zealand. The restoration is complemented by newly remixed audio from the original multitrack recordings, resulting in the most impressive and immersive presentation of this concert to date. Recorded on July 27, 1986, at the Népstadion in Budapest during “The Magic Tour,” this concert marked a historic moment: Queen became the first Western rock band to perform behind the Iron Curtain, at a time of profound cultural and political change. In addition to the 80,000 sold-out tickets, an estimated 45,000 more people watched the concert from outside the stadium. Some fans had even traveled from Russia and Poland to see the band live. “Queen Budapest” is the band’s final filmed live performance featuring Freddie Mercury and showcases Queen at the height of their live prowess. The film features the band performing legendary hits such as “We Will Rock You,” “We Are The Champions,” “A Kind Of Magic,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “Under Pressure,” “Who Wants to Live Forever,” “Hammer to Fall,” and “Bohemian Rhapsody.”
