The great Mendelssohn renaissance, long overdue, is in full swing, with this six-part complete recording of the solo piano works with Howard Shelley providing a welcome opportunity to engage with the composer's somewhat neglected body of work and finally reassess it. The fourth volume of the complete recording includes the most extensive opus that the composer dedicated to the instrument: the Six Preludes & Fugues Op. 35 from 1837, as well as the Songs without Words Op. 62 and several unpublished piano works by Mendelssohn.
