Ribera: Magnificats & Motets

Discovery of a master Only a few works by Bernardino de Ribera have survived. The few that do exist, however, are of such high quality that he can justifiably be called a composer of international standing. Together with his two incomparably better-known contemporaries Francisco Guerrero and Tomas Luis de Victoria, Ribera established the Europe-wide fame of Spanish music at the time of Philip II. Only the fact that his works have hardly been edited so far has prevented an early discovery of this master. This recording with David Skinner and his ensemble De Pofundis finally remedies the situation.
