Stanley Turrentine: Rough 'N Tumble (LP)

Stanley Turrentine's 1966 soul-jazz classic "Rough 'N Tumble" has a deep, bluesy groove that doesn't let up from start to finish. Turrentine is joined by the cream of the crop: Blue Mitchell on trumpet, Pepper Adams on baritone sax, James Spaulding on alto sax, McCoy Tyner on piano, Grant Green on guitar, Bob Cranshaw on bass and Mickey Roker on drums. Highlights include soulful covers of Ray Charles' "What Could I Do Without You," Burt Bacharach's "Walk On By" and "Feeling Good," recorded the year before by Nina Simone. Blue Note Records' Tone Poet Audiophile Vinyl Reissue Series is produced by Joe Harley and features all-analog 180g audiophile vinyl reissues mastered from the original master tapes in luxurious gatefold packaging. Mastering is done by Kevin Gray (Cohearent Audio) and the vinyl is manufactured at Record Technology Incorporated (RTI).
