Having worked together for the Decca label in the late 1940s, this was the first of three albums Fitzgerald and Armstrong would record together for Verve Records! Perhaps the best-humored jazz album of all time and an artistic & recording tour de force. After Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong performed together at an all-star concert the night before, they went into an L. A. studio on August 16, 1956 to record this gem of an album. Although they had no time for rehearsals, the chemistry was immediately right, and the result is one of the few truly indispensable recordings of jazz.
