The brilliant arranger Gil Evans had already worked with Miles Davis on Birth of the Cool and Miles Ahead when he recorded his two outstanding albums for World Pacific - "New Bottle Old Wine" (1958) and "Great Jazz Standards" (1959) - which featured Johnny Coles, Steve Lacy, Budd Johnson, Elvin Jones and others. Blue Note Tone Poet Edition: stereo, produced by Joe Harley, mastered by Kevin Gray from the original analog master tapes, pressed on 180g vinyl at RTI and packaged in a deluxe tip-on sleeve.
