Popis
elbow will release their new, ninth studio album "Flying Dream 1" in 2021, the follow-up to 2019's "Giants Of All Sizes" and their 2020 concert album "Live At The Ritz - An Acoustic Performance," respectively Work on the record began after the British indie rock veterans recorded the "elbowrooms" sessions for YouTube during the first lockdown last year. Afterwards, they sent each other initial song ideas "We don't call each other to chat. We don't talk about life outside of music until we're together. Those quiet nightly letters told us how the other was doing. When we finally got together, it was just about recording the songs, honoring them with amazing additional singers and musicians in a beautiful space, and sharing. It was beautiful," says singer Guy Garvey. The sketches turned into ten full songs. After completing them in their home studios, the band members came together at the vacant Brighton Theatre Royal to perfect, perform and record them. Garvey on the sessions: "Renting a two-century-old theater that had never been closed for so long in its history was something that was only possible under these circumstances: it was nice to turn it upside down in this way. To record in a great, spacious room with no audience was something that throws an anchor into the time in which the record was made." "Flying Dream 1" was produced by Craig Potter and mixed at Blueprint Studios in Salford. The "amazing additional singers and musicians" Garvey spoke of are Alex Reeves on drums and percussion, Sarah Field on clarinet and saxophone, as well as Wilson Atie, Adeleye Omotayo and Marit Røkeberg from London Contemporary Voices, and American singer Jesca Hoop, an old friend and longtime collaborator of elbow.
