Steely Dan: Pretzel Logic (Limited Edition) (LP)

"Pretzel Logic" entered the Billboard 200 in late March 1974, reaching No. 8, and later landed at No. 385 on Rolling Stone's Top 500 chart for 2003. The album was produced by Gary Katz, as usual, and featured another selection of intelligent rock compositions by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, including favorites such as "Night By Night" and "Barrytown." The record also wore the duo's jazz influences on its sleeve with a version of Duke Ellington's "East St. Louis Toodle-Oo" and the Charlie Parker tribute "Parker's Band." In addition to Becker and Fagen, the band's lineup at the time included Jeff "Skunk" Baxter, Denny Dias and Jim Hodder. Also featured were Wilton Felder of the Crusaders, British percussionist Victor Feldman, and later Toto members David Paich and Jeff Porcaro. Finally: the classic Steely Dan catalog is available again on vinyl. Led by Walter Becker and Donald Fagen, Steely Dan released 7 albums between 1972 and 1980. The vinyl series continues with "Pretzel Logic", the band's first Top 10 album with the huge hit "Rikki Don't Lose That Number".
