Camel: Music Inspired by The Snow Goose (LP)

One of the band members of Camel suggested making an entire album based on a book. A number of books were considered, but the emotional pull of "The Snow Goose" by Paul Gallico was so strong that they began writing and recording a concept album that would represent their vision of the story. The result, the instrumental album "The Snow Goose," proved to be their breakthrough. This masterpiece climbed to the top-30 of the British charts, it received the Melody Maker's "Brightest Hope" award and gave the band a strong and loyal fan base. The novel is a complex story, which Camel realize in their improvisational pieces without singing a single word. These undulating and intricate soundscapes interpret the emotions of the piece on an accessible level, making the album an all-encompassing experience of the Camel sound! "The Snow Goose" is the third studio album by the band Camel from 1975, and the critical success of the suite "The White Rider" (based on J. R. R. Tolkien's "The Lord of the Rings" and appearing on the previous 1974 album "Mirage") inspired the group to create more novel-inspired conceptual suites. This remaster from the original tapes is being released as part of a broader campaign that includes a 32-disc career set. It will be released on black vinyl just before the start of the band's UK tour.
