Elvin Jones is one of jazz's most influential drummers, not least for his longtime collaboration with John Coltrane. A few years ago, Rolling Stone listed Jones as the 23rd best drummer of all time. The previously unreleased recordings, now released as "Revival: Live at Pookie's Pub," show Jones' reinvention as a leader two weeks after Coltrane's death, recorded live in July 1967 in New York City with saxophonist Joe Farrell, pianist Billy Greene and bassist Wilbur Little. The deluxe 180g 3-LP set includes a booklet with photos by Francis Wolff and others, as well as essays by GRAMMY-winning author Ashley Kahn, producers Zev Feldman and Don Was, recording engineer Bob Falesch, and many more.
