Produced by Chris Thomas (Roxy Music, Sex Pistols, Pretenders, Wings), "Empty Glass" was Townshend's next solo release, released in April 1980. The songs deal mostly with issues Townshend was struggling with at the time, including the death of Keith Moon, former drummer for the Who. Mastered by longtime Who engineer Jon Astley and cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios using a half-speed vinyl mastering process that produces a premium vinyl cut, these limited-edition black vinyl releases are packaged in original obi-striped sleeves with a certificate of authenticity. "Empty Glass" includes a full color inside cover with all lyrics and a 300mm x 600mm poster.
