Dizzy Reece: Star Bright (LP)

Between 1948 and 1958, the Jamaican-born trumpeter Dizzy Reece gained an outstanding reputation throughout Europe. After recording his debut album for Blue Note while still in London, he moved to New York - sponsored by Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins - to record three more albums for Alfred Lion's label in a short time. The first of these albums was 1959's "Star Bright," a first-rate hard bop recording on which he was accompanied by four musicians who were all part of Miles' illustrious circle at the time: tenor saxophonist Hank Mobley, pianist Wynton Kelly, bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Art Taylor.
