Elton John: The Diving Board (Limited Edition) (2LP)

The 30th studio album of Elton John is called "The Diving Board". The album was written in two days, the songs were written by John in collaboration with Bernie Taupin. The production in Los Angeles was done by T-Bone Burnett. The latter advised John to return to the piano - bass - drums formation of his early years. Elton John found this to be "the most exciting solo record in a very long time". Participating musicians besides Elton John were among others Doyle Bramhall II (guitar), T-Bone Burnett (guitar), Keefus Ciancia (keyboards) and Raphael Saadiq (bass guitar). The songs were recorded almost completely live together with a high-class musician guard: Guitarist Doyle Bramhall, R&B singer and bassist Raphael Saadiq, keyboardist Keefus Ciancia, drummer Jay Bellerose and Motown legend Jack Ashford, who worked as a percussionist for Marvin Gaye, among others. Together with Bernd Taupin, who has worked with Elton John since 1967, the songs on "The Diving Board" were written. Producer T-Bone Burnett, who also produced Elton John's joint album "The Union" with Leon Russell, was at the controls for "The Diving Board".
