Elton John between nostalgia and modernity // He is now almost 70 years old and has probably achieved everything in his career that an artist can achieve. But there is still no sign of fatigue in Elton John. Instead, the pop icon continues to release new albums. Number 33 is called "Wonderful Crazy Night" and lives up to its name. The first single, "Looking Up," is a rousing pop-rock song with a catchy piano melody and an encouraging "cheer up!" mentality - a good advertisement for the album, on which blues and folk can be heard again and again in addition to pop and rock. Elton John himself talks about a lot of 1970s influences in the course of the album - no wonder, considering the guest musicians on "Wonderful Crazy Night". With drummer Nigel Olsson, guitarist Davey Johnstone and percussionist Ray Cooper, a few old acquaintances are represented on the album, who have been making music at John's side again and again since 1971. Helping with the songwriting was, how could it be otherwise, Bernie Taupin. Further musical support came from Matt Bissonette (bass), Kim Bullard (keyboards) and John Mahon (percussion). Together, as with the previous album, they went to "The Village" studios in Los Angeles, where the album was produced together with T-Bone Burnett. In just 17 days, the band recorded 14 songs, ten of which made it onto the album. In addition to the LP and the standard CD with the ten songs and a twelve-page photo booklet, "Wonderful Crazy Night" is available as a Deluxe Edition as well as a Limited Super Deluxe Box Set. The former features two bonus tracks and a 16-page photo booklet. The strictly limited box set includes a vinyl LP, two CDs including four bonus songs and a 20-page photo booklet. Elton John is back. Elton's thirtieth studio album, released in 2016, remastered at world-renowned mastering studio Lurssen Mastering. The reissue includes the singles "Looking Up," "Wonderful Crazy Night," "Blue Wonderful," "In The Name Of You," and "A Good Heart," and remains true to the original track list, packaging, and editing at London's Abbey Road Studios.
