In 1985, Frankie Goes To Hollywood were perhaps the most dangerous band in the world, shaking up the music world in a way the country hadn't seen since the Sex Pistols. They were outspoken, got banned by the BBC, almost fell foul of the Official Secrets Act, had videos that TV couldn't show until after the watershed, made one of the most daring debut albums of all time, a double album, and of course pop fans loved it. The band's debut album, 'Welcome To The Pleasuredome', released in October 1984, reached number one in the UK charts and sold over a million copies. Internationally, the album was a top 10 seller in countries such as Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand. Their first three singles, "Relax", "Two Tribes" and "The Power Of Love", all reached number 1 in the UK, a feat only achieved once before by fellow Liverpool band Gerry And The Pacemakers in the 1960s. Frankie was also only the second band in the pre-streaming era to have singles at number 1 and number 2 simultaneously; the other band being The Beatles. "Relax" and "Two Tribes" are still the 6th and 22nd best-selling singles in UK history and are considered classics. 40 years of "Welcome To The Pleasuredome"! This anniversary edition, compiled for the first time in collaboration with the band themselves, contains 28 unreleased tracks and takes the listener on a journey from the band's earliest demos and BBC Radio One sessions through the singles to their debut album and beyond. Each CD contains rare and in most cases unreleased versions of songs that represent the gold standard of 80s music. World-renowned artist, producer and remixer Steven Wilson has contributed an Atmos mix as well as stereo and 5.1 mixes for the Blu-ray audio, and the booklet has been designed by Philip Marshall with rare photos and memorabilia and includes a timeline of the band's rise to fame with contributions from all members of Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Contents of the limited Super Deluxe Edition: This comprehensive collection offers unprecedented insight into how Frankie Goes to Hollywood crafted their debut album under the production of Trevor Horn on 7 CDs and a Blu-ray Audio. The CDs are housed in a 10x10 inch slip-sleeved box and include a remastered version of the album as well as a collection of demos, outtakes, BBC sessions and unreleased material. The 7CD+Blu-ray Super Deluxe Edition also includes a 38-page book with a foreword by Paul Sinclair and a detailed timeline by Kevin Foakes aka DJ Food.
