Wayne Shorter: The Soothsayer (180 g) (LP)

In September 1964, Miles Davis finally succeeded in poaching saxophonist Wayne Shorter from Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and completing his Second Great Quintet with him. Not only did Shorter's solo career not seem to suffer as a result, it actually seemed to be boosted. So much so, in fact, that Blue Note could barely keep up with releasing his solo albums. One of the albums that was initially archived was "The Soothsayer". It was recorded in March 1965 with an all-star sextet, but for some inexplicable reason was not released until 1979. According to AllMusic, it is one of Shorter's "best works from this incredibly fertile period".
