The Police's fourth studio album was released in October 1981 and was number one in the UK album charts and a multi-platinum bestseller. With three hit singles - 'Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic', 'Invisible Sun' and 'Spirits In The Material World' - the jazz influences were more apparent, but the album had a very strong, sophisticated pop appeal thanks to Sting's songwriting talent.
