Popis
"In the Wee Small Hours" is Frank Sinatra's ninth studio album. The vocal jazz album is considered one of the first concept albums ever.
Sinatra conquered the top of the Billboard 200 after the release of the LP. Less than a week after Frank Sinatra returned from his first tour of Australia, he entered Capitol's KHJ Studios to begin recording one of his most treasured albums: In the Wee Small Hours, a concept album that entered the Billboard charts on May 28, 1955. It rose to No. 2 and remained in the charts for a total of 33 weeks. "In the Wee Small Hours" was inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame in 1984. The ballad album is considered one of Sinatra's most jazz-heavy works. Most of the songs are melancholy and sad; they seem to be a way of coming to terms with Sinatra's marriage to actress Ava Gardner, which had broken down shortly before.
Frank Sinatra's groundbreaking album "In The Wee Small Hours" from 1955 on Capitol Records is a melancholy masterpiece about lost love and heartache, which was a key album in the legendary singer's career. Produced by Voyle Gilmore, the album epitomized Sinatra's artistic evolution into a more mature vocal style, with stunning renditions of Great American Songbook standards given sublime arrangements by Nelson Riddle. Sinatra conceived "In The Wee Small Hours" as a full-length album rather than a collection of singles, creating one of the first concept albums ever and becoming one of the first pop albums to be released as a 12-inch LP. The album was an immediate critical and commercial success, reaching #2 on the Billboard charts and bolstering Sinatra's career resurgence after he signed with Capitol Records in 1953 and won his Oscar for his role in the movie "From Here to Eternity".
