"James Last Rocks The Hits" is emblazoned on the cover of this unusual compilation by Germany's international music icon. James Last and rock music - how do they go together? Very well indeed! In the 1960s and 1970s, the "party king" discovered the international rock scene for himself and recorded hits by Bob Dylan, Creedence Clearwater Revival, John Lennon, Neil Diamond, Santana, The Sweet, Van Morrison, The Eagles, Bob Marley, The Animals and many others. Not only his fans were thrilled, but music critics and even some of the original artists agreed: his versions were as good as the songs from the international charts.
The 4-CD set "James Last On The Rocks" brings together for the first time all of James Last's rocking highlights, recorded with a group of singers he personally selected in London recording studios: the James Last Company consisted of Sue Glover and Sunny Leslie (from Brotherhood of Man), Margo Quantrell and Jean Ryder (from the Breakaways), Lyn Cornell (from the Pearls), Kay Garner (from the Ladybirds), Tony Burrows (from Edison Lighthouse) and studio singers Neil Lancaster and Peter Barnfather. They form the core of James Last's groovy rock sound!
All tracks have been freshly remastered, an informative and illustrated booklet tells the story of James Last's "rock era" and contains interesting details about all the songs.
