Ghost: Impera

"We are building our new empire from the ashes of an old one" - with these words the GRAMMY award-winning Swedish instance of theatrical rock music, GHOST, announces the upcoming release of their fifth studio album, "IMPERA". After its predecessor, 2018's Grammy-nominated "PREQUELLE" for Best Rock Album, was set in the 14th century and at the time of the European plague pandemic, Ghost see themselves catapulted literally hundreds of years forward in time with "IMPERA." The result is the most ambitious and lyrically succinct work in Ghost's album canon: over the course of the 12-song cycle of "IMPERA," empires rise and fall, would-be messiahs engage in their (equally monetarily and spiritually motivated) hype-mongering, and prophecies are made as the firmament is filled with celestial bodies of both divine and man-made nature. The thematically most current Ghost album so far plays out against a hypnotic, darkly colorful melodic backdrop, making "IMPERA" an incomparable listening experience.
