Handel's arias play a major role in Bostridge's artistic development - not least because Handel's music has had an unbroken line of tradition in Bostridge's native England since the composer's lifetime. In order to make the works accessible to his voice, Bostridge used a method that Handel himself had already employed: He set the solo part of the castrato pieces an octave lower.
