David Bowie: The Buddha Of Suburbia

The Buddha of Suburbia is the 19th album by David Bowie. It sounds rough and has an air of unfinishedness. Had it not been tied to Hanif Kureishi's exemplary dramatization of his book, and had Bowie called it something like Strangers, it would have been much more noted in retrospect and traded as a belated successor to Low and Heroes. Because the pressure was off, in a sense, Bowie could write a soundtrack, pay homage to himself and his roots, and go through the various stages of his career at the same time.
