"Graceland" of 1986 was the seventh studio album of the singer/songwriter PAUL SIMON. in 1984, after a depressive phase, SIMON was fascinated by a bootleg tape of music from a South African township. With Roy Halee, he planned a trip to Johannesburg, where he spent two weeks recording with South African musicians. The album thus features an eclectic mix of genres, including pop, rock, a capella, zydeco, isicathamiya and mbaqnaga. SIMON composes new songs under the impression of these recordings and collaborated with African and American musicians. "Graceland" was a commercial success and was to become SIMON's most successful SIMON's most successful studio album. in 1987 it won the Grammy for "Album Of The Year" and sold over 16 million copies worldwide.
