Leonard Cohen: Hallelujah & Songs from His Albums (2LP)

Sony releases the first-ever career-spanning album by songwriter, musician, poet, writer and visual artist Leonard Cohen. The Leonard Cohen: Hallelujah & Songs from His Albums anthology features 17 tracks from Cohen's extensive career, plus an unreleased and unforgettable live performance of "Hallelujah" from the 2008 Glastonbury Festival. This collection is a companion piece to the new documentary Hallelujah: Leonard Cohen, A Journey, A Song, which premieres this month at the Tribeca Festival and was also an official selection at the 2021 Venice Film Festival and the 2021 Telluride Festival. The film is a definitive exploration of the singer-songwriter through the prism of Cohen's internationally renowned anthem "Hallelujah." The film, which was approved for production by Leonard Cohen shortly before his 80th birthday in 2014, draws on a wealth of never-before-seen archival materials from the Cohen Family Trust, including Cohen's personal notebooks, diaries and photographs, performance footage, and extremely rare audio recordings and interviews. The feature-length documentary includes moving testimonials from personal friends of Leonard such as Adrienne Clarkson and Larry "Ratso" Sloman, as well as artists for whom "Hallelujah" has become a personal touchstone, including Judy Collins, Brandi Carlile and Rufus Wainwright.
