In the theater with Haydn. Joseph Haydn's official duties as Kapellmeister in Eszterháza also included the musical organization of the opera company and the provision of music for theatrical performances. The seventh installment of the highly acclaimed Haydn 2032 project on ALPHA CLASSICS is devoted to the latter aspect. Namely, it presents some works that have long been suspected of being incidental music reworked into symphonies. The instrumental interludes from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's incidental music for von Gebler's heroic drama Thamos, König in Egypten KV 345, composed at about the same time, namely in 1776, form the perfect complement to this.
