Pergolesi's fame was so great after his death that numerous less talented composers simply published their works under his name. To this day, musicology is busy separating the wheat from the chaff. Thus it is always a small sensation when a composition can then be identified beyond doubt as a genuine work by Pergolesi. This happened most recently with the Missa in D and the motet Dignas Laudes. Both works are now released by ARCANA on CD with the Ghislieri Choir & Consort conducted by Giulio Prandi. And this is certainly not fake news!
