Douglas Dare: Aforger (LP)

After touring the world in support of Ólafur Arnalds, Nils Frahm and Fink and performing European headline tours in 2014 and 2015, London-based singer/songwriter and pianist Douglas Dare will present his second album in fall 2016. Like his critically acclaimed debut "Whelm", "Aforger" will also be released on the Erased Tapes label. In our digital age, where memories are imitated by pixels and identity is as malleable as it is static, Dare's new album questions the boundaries between reality and fiction. The album title plays on the English word for a forger, someone who makes imitations or copies of things, reworks them into something new and thus becomes the constructor of something that is no longer real. Dare's conception of "Aforger" began when he found out that his friend was leading a double life. From then on, he was haunted by the question: What is still real? Following his reading of George Orwell's "1984", his separation from his partner and his outing to his father, the ten tracks of "Aforger" were created. The record was mastered at the famous Abbey Road Studios and produced by Dare's long-time collaborator Fabian Prynn.
