Penguin Cafe & Cornelius: Umbrella EP (LP)

Worlds collide on the "Umbrella EP". Penguin Cafe was founded in 2009 by Arthur Jeffes with the intention of bringing his father's legacy and the Penguin Cafe Orchestra back on stage ten years after his death in 1997. So he brought together musicians who had previously worked with Suede, Gorillaz and Razorlight. Together they created cross-genre music that carried his father's philosophy. Today, Penguin Cafe's output is characterized by fresh, innovative and beautiful sounds that have emancipated themselves from the jazz and folk origins of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra and have instead moved into ambient and dance realms. Jeffes plays various string instruments, piano, harmonium, slide guitar, cuatros and kalimbas, uses experimental sound loops and employs elements of African, Venezuelan, Brazilian, classical, avant-garde and minimalist music. In addition to the two previously unreleased songs "Close Encounter" and "The Track Of The Dull Sun" by Penguin Cafe, the "Umbrella EP" also includes an arrangement of "Solaris (Cornelius Mix)" and "Birdwatching At Inner Forest (Penguin Cafe Mix)" by the other artist.
