Nick Cave & Bad Seeds: B-Sides & Rarities (3CD)

A strange and beautiful collection of lost songs. Nick Cave is a busy man. He just released "Carnage", a collaboration album with Warren Ellis, in early 2021, his solo concert album "Idiot Prayer" came in 2020, and his latest Bad Seeds record "Ghosteen" in 2019 In 2021, "B-Sides & Rarities" will also be a special retrospective. The first collection of B-sides, outtakes and rarities was released back in 2005. It is now reissued as "B-Sides & Rarities Part I" - on three CDs in a digipak with 56 rare tracks from 1988 to 2005, compiled by Mick Harvey. Nick Cave on the album: "I always liked the original 'B-Sides & Rarities' more than any of our other albums. It's the only one I enjoy listening to. It seems more laid back, even a bit nonsensical in places, but with some nice songs throughout. There's also something about the smallness of certain songs that's closer to their original spirit." In addition, "B-Sides & Rarities Part II" will be released in 2021, a sequel featuring 27 more B-sides and outtakes from 2006 to 2020, including first takes on "Skeleton Tree," "Girl In Amber" and "Bright Horses." All of the tracks were collected for the compilation by Cave and bandmate Warren Ellis. In addition, a previously unreleased song, "Vortex," has made it into the track listing. The two musicians wrote the song back in 2006 with Martin Casey and Jim Sclavunos. "'B-Sides & Rarities Part II' continues this strange and beautiful collection of lost songs from The Bad Seeds. I love the last side of the last disc because it reveals the small and fragile beginnings of some of my favorite Bad Seeds songs. 'Waiting For You' complete with a bizarre 'Canning Factory' rhythm track, a beautiful 'Life Per Se' deemed too sad for 'Skeleton Tree', and 'Earthlings' which some consider the best track from the "Ghosteen" sessions," says Cave. "B-Sides & Rarities Part II" is available on either double LP or double CD, as well as a deluxe double CD in a rigid slipcase. Another highlight is the limited deluxe box set "B-Sides & Rarities (Part I & II)", which combines both parts of the rarities collection with a total of 83 tracks on seven LPs. Attention: This is the reissue of the first compilation from 2005, now as a 3CD set in a digipack, with 56 rare tracks from 1988 to 2005. 'B-Sides & Rarities Part I' contains material from the over 30-year career of Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds. The collection comprises 56 tracks on three CDs and includes rarities, outtakes, cover songs and B-sides from 1988 - 2005. The tracks were compiled by Mick Harvey. The compilation was originally released in 2005 and is now being re-released as a 3CD reissue in a digi-package to coincide with the release of "Part II".
