Popis
Marianne Faithfull's new unique album - full of poetry and music. Set by Warren Ellis, starring Nick Cave, Brian Eno and Vincent Ségal. With She Walks In Beauty, Marianne Faithfull, collaborated with composer and multi-instrumentalist Warren Ellis, publishes one of the most striking and unique albums of her long and extraordinary career. The recordings took place shortly before and during the first Covid 19 lockdown, during which the singer/songwriter infected herself with the virus and almost died of the disease. Musical contributors include Warren Ellis, Nick Cave, Brian Eno, cellist Vincent Ségal and producer Head. With She Walks In Beauty, Faithfull fulfills the long-cherished desire to record an album that combines poetry with music. It is an album for which she delves deep into her past and that stems from her great passion for the English poets of Romanticism, a passion that developed during her studies with Mrs. Simpson at the St. Joseph s Convent School in Reading, before moving to London at the age of just 16 and created a stepped a whole new world - the world of As Tears Go By, Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones, Top Of The Pops - the left-hand path of pop and the glory of the stage stars. This was followed by iconography of the 1960s and outrage, as well as the subsequent years marked by the struggle with addiction, and then in 1979 the return to their powerful femininity and artistic autonomy with the release of the album Broken English, on which they published Heathcote Williams' poem Why D'Ya Do It? turned into a song.
