Pat Metheny: Side-Eye NYC (V1.IV)

It was only at the beginning of 2021 that Pat Metheny released his latest classic album "Road To The Sun", which climbed to number ten in the charts in Germany. In September, jazz fans can now look forward to a new live album by the US jazz guitarist "Side-Eye NYC (V1.IV)" is the name of the special concert recording that features the maestro live in an intimate club atmosphere. Nine songs await on the record. In September 2019, Metheny played three nights at Sony Hall in New York City with his new project "Side-Eye," which features a rotating cast of younger musicians from the jazz world. Pat Metheny explains, "I wanted to create an ongoing platform to accommodate a rotating cast of the newer generations of musicians who have piqued my interest. From my earliest days in Kansas City, I was the beneficiary of so many musicians engaging me, which gave me the opportunity to evolve through their experiences and the particular demands of their music." Metheny has named this band concept "Side-Eye" in hopes that it will become a rotating group of musicians who can come and go in different lineups. So far there have been four versions, hence the explanation "V1.IV" in the album title. Whether as a solo artist, bandleader of various formations or as a guest musician: Pat Metheny has earned the reputation of one of the best, most influential and most successful jazz musicians in the world since the mid-1970s. Over the course of his career, the guitarist and composer has won 20 Grammy Awards in twelve different categories. Whether electronic, powerfully intense or deeply reflective, composed or completely improvised, Pat Metheny's unmistakable sensibility, which has always been at the forefront of jazz, is always at work. The "Side-Eye" series is the latest chapter in his ever-evolving story.
