Popis
With "Durton", Nils Frahm presents one of a total of three albums with remastered recordings from his early days. The tracks have not been available for years, some are still completely unreleased, and not a single one of them has been available on the usual streaming services so far. Each of these three albums provides a fascinating insight into a creative epoch that was previously known only to absolute Frahm fans and long-time admirers. Frahm celebrated his first successes with "Felt," released in 2011, and "Screws," which followed a year later; while solo piano plays a dominant role on these albums - Frahm learned to play the piano in his youth - the instrument does not play a major role in the early stages of his career, by contrast. "Durton" features tracks from 2006's digital-only "My First EP," as well as five other previously unreleased compositions. "Durton" was recorded nearly two decades ago and, like Frahm's former Berlin studio, is named after the very first piece of music he released in 2005. With the exception of the guitar played by Martin Heyne on the title track, the entire album was produced by Frahm in his Hamburg home studio. In addition to the delicate micro-electronica, other live instruments such as brass, strings and percussion can be heard. "They probably came from recordings for other pieces," Frahm admits. "I can't even remember who played them. It was a long time ago; back then we often reused some outtakes. I neglected to document things properly. Today, I'm not always quite sure what I'm hearing or how I did it back then." There's no doubt about the voice on 'Now Fast Be Slow,' though: "If anyone's singing, it's definitely me!" In addition to "Durton", Nils Frahm also releases the album "Streichelfisch", which is available on vinyl for the first time since its original pressing in 2005. Furthermore, the work "Electric Piano" is released, which contains seven tracks that were originally released as a download in 2008.
