The Gran Teatro La Fenice is one of the most famous landmarks of Italian theater and one of the largest opera houses in Europe. In the 19th century in particular, La Fenice was the setting for many groundbreaking opera premieres, during which several works by the four great composers of the Bel Canto era - Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti and Verdi - were performed.
