From 1974 to 1977, Wilko Johnson served as guitarist and songwriter for four albums with the influential, high-energy UK blues/pub-rock band Dr. Feelgood, which embodied a “back-to-basics” sound and helped pave the way for punk rock.
In 2009, Wilko Johnson appeared as a central figure in the Dr. Feelgood film *Oil City Confidential* by filmmaker Julian Temple (*The Great Rock ’n’ Roll Swindle*, *Absolute Beginners*, *Glastonbury*, *Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten,” etc.).
The 1989 studio album “Barbed Wire Blues” features ten original songs by Wilko Johnson and will be reissued in 2023.
