Popis
From heartbreak to elegant flirtation - Diana Damrau's new album: "For me, operetta is the most all-encompassing genre of musical theater," says Diana Damrau, "its indulgence, its longing, its cheerfulness and comedy touch the heart and show the life-affirming side of life. And so the world-famous soprano dedicates her album to operetta: Vienna, Berlin, Paris - sparkling melodies composed by masters of operetta such as Johann Strauss Sohn, Franz Lehár, Emmerich Kálmán and Robert Stolz. Guest star at Diana Damrau's side is tenor Jonas Kaufmann. And the Munich Radio Orchestra plays in high spirits under the direction of Austrian conductor Ernst Theis. The Bavarian-born soprano became famous in the roles of tragic opera tragic opera heroines - from Donizetti's Lucia to Verdi's Violetta. In operetta, on the other hand, the typical heroine has her life firmly under control and is the master of her fate. Diana Damrau seems to particularly like this difference: "She is not a downtrodden woman who has to die in the end, but a diva who makes the best of every situation. She fights for her Love and uses all the weapons at her disposal". The soprano also sought out collaborators for the recording, including her longtime friend and former Elke Kottmair, a specialist in the field of light muse. Together, the two singers designed the Program for the album. Diana Damrau emphasizes: "We planned the program so that it progresses from hope to consuming love, and from the first heartbreak to elegant flirtation Heartbreak to elegant flirtation".
