Popis
During his lifetime, Dieterich Buxtehude was hardly less well known than today's Nobel Prize winners Thomas Mann, Günter Grass and Willy Brandt, who are associated with his hometown of Lübeck. The composer's fantastic music inspired audiences far beyond the regional borders of the Hanseatic city
Thus, in addition to Johann Sebastian Bach, Georg Friedrich Händel and Johann Mattheson stayed with him in Lübeck to perfect their composition and organ playing skills. In addition to Buxtehude's vocal music and music for keyboard instruments, two publications of trio sonatas have survived.
With the present SACD, the 2nd part of the trio sonatas has now appeared. Also recorded by the renowned ensemble l'Estravagante, this music is a valuable discovery and a good opportunity to trace what seemed so original and fantastic about Buxtehude's music to his contemporaries.
