Acclaimed saxophonist Joshua Redman makes his Blue Note debut with "Where Are We", his first project to feature a vocalist throughout, Italian-American singer Gabrielle Cavassa. The songs with states and cities in the title immediately give away that this is about the USA, and what contemporary America means to Redman and the others involved in this album. Part of the album consists of jazz and pop standards, and although Redman keeps the songs close to the originals, he always creates a sense of rediscovery.
