Long-term partner Flood co-produced the album together with PJ, John Parish and Mick Harvey. "Let England Shake" is basically the first pure solo album since "White Chalk" from 2007. In contrast to the more experimental "White Chalk", which was mainly reduced to piano accompaniment, "Let England Shake" inhabits a completely different world, according to PJ Harvey's own statement. It deals with general themes such as conflict, war, loss, loyalty, friendship and love, but she not only reflects on her own self in the midst of these perceptions, but also writes about the state of the country as a whole, for example. This also explains the title of the new album.
