Popis
Divine Intervention by Slayer, released 2 May 2013, includes the following tracks: "Dittohead", "Circle Of Beliefs", "Serenity In Murder", "Mind Control" and more. This version of Divine Intervention comes as a 1xCD. The word 'repentless' comes from the English 'unrepentant' and translates to 'unrepentant' - which is exactly what the album's title track is about. According to Kerry King, the song is a tribute to his friend Jeff Hanneman and depicts life from his perspective. This attitude to life is also clear in the structure of the song, because "Repentless" is above all one thing: fast. Driving guitars, raging drums and lyrics as if shot out of a cannon - "Repentless" goes forward without detours. The second single of the album musically ties in with the first. "Cast The First Stone" was also written by King, who is responsible for most of the songs on "Repentless". In addition to King, however, Hanneman also left his songwriting mark on the album. "Piano Wire" was penned by the late band member and was supposed to appear on the previous album, "World Painted Blood." However, the song was not yet complete, which is why it has landed on the new album only now, after revision. Some of the other songs on "Repentless" might sound familiar to die-hard Slayer fans, the band had already released a version of "Atrocity Vendor" on the B-side of the previous album. The song "Implode" was available for free download in 2014 and "When The Stillness Comes" premiered on this year's Recordstore Day. Nevertheless, all the 'old' songs fit perfectly into the overall musical picture of the album, for which Slayer hired producer Terry Date. He has worked in the past for the Deftones, Soundgarden and Pantera, among others. There is no escape: With "Repentless," Slayer fires twelve thrash metal songs at us without remorse that have it all. But it's about time.
