New Orleans is considered the cradle of jazz and has produced many musical prodigies: Sidney Bechet, James Booker, the Marsalis brothers and Harry Connick Jr. But the famous city has also always had a particularly innovative funk and rhythm'n'blues scene. Trombone Shorty, who has just toured the USA as the opening act for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, has been one of New Orleans' best-known sons for years. The multi-instrumentalist and singer seems to have mastered every style that has ever been played in his home town. He draws generously on this stylistic diversity on his Blue Note album "Parking Lot Symphony". Produced by Chris Seefried (Fitz and the Tantrums, Andra Day), the album is a breathtaking tour de force in twelve very different acts. In addition to ten new songs of his own, Trombone Shorty also offers brilliant cover versions of Allen Toussaint's "Here Come The Girls" and "It Ain't No Use" by the Meters.
