The double live album "Paris" (on which the band is celebrated as rock gods) is followed by "Famous Last Words," the last album with Hodgson before he launches a successful solo career. If there were tensions in the ranks of the band, they were only amplified. The combination of heavy progressive motifs with house pop chutzpah was another worldwide sensation. The long-running tracks "Waiting So Long" and "Don't Leave Me Now" flooded the radio waves; the big hit "It's Raining Again" (accompanied by Russell Mulcahy's impressive and influential video) continued to bring Ackers revenue, thanks to Fox Networks' use of their TV weather station. The regrouping after Hodgson's departure from Brother Where You Bound allows Davies to shine. His composition 'Cannonball' was the hit, but far from the only reason to check out this disc now. The 16-minute, Cold War-inspired title track boasts dual guitar work from Scott Gorham of Thin Lizzy and David Gilmour of Pink Floyd: Longtime fans were delighted to discover that Supertramp hadn't abandoned their progressive background after all.
