Nils Landgren: Christmas With My Friends IX (LP)

Someone once asked me: Is there no end to Christmas carols? The answer is simple: no, there isn't. As long as we celebrate Christmas, there will be songs that celebrate it in one way or another. I can't describe the feeling I get when another recording session is finished. We all put our hearts and souls into every single Christmas album we produce and over the years we have become a very close group of people who now know each other very well - after eight albums and ten long tours over the past decades. So how do we prepare for the recordings? First, I check the availability of all the band members. Then I book the studio. After that, we write new music and select existing songs that we think will suit us. Once we've found what we're looking for and decided which new songs we want to record, it's time to rehearse a bit. We try out all the songs we've decided on. Then we make the necessary changes, experiment with new arrangement ideas and have a lot of fun together. Coffee is not a bad companion on such occasions. A cinnamon bun also comes in handy. When it's time to record, we meet at Atlantis Studios in Stockholm, where the sound engineer and his assistant have already prepared everything. After two days of intensive studio work, we part ways again and leave the editing and mixing to our beloved guitarist and co-producer Johan Norberg. As a little extra, I invited the trombone section of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra to accompany me on some of the most beautiful chorales I know. By the way, the color of the album cover is purple this time - fitting for the occasion. Have fun! Best regards, Nils
