"Bird Lives" has been nominated for THREE GRAMMY® AWARDS GRAMMY® Winner for Best Arrangement, Instrumental by John Beasley for "Scrapple From The Apple." Was also GRAMMY®-nominated for: Best Album by a Large Jazz Ensemble Best Improvised Jazz Solo for John Beasley as soloist on "Cherokee / Koko." Bird Lives feels like a soundtrack to an imaginary film co-written by Lindgren and Beasley. The SWR Big Band performs with a 10-piece string section, but this recording is not a reissue of Parker's "Bird With Strings" albums.
